Mother and daughter detained by Hamadan’s Imam Hossein Shrine janitors, escape

 

Two women escaped from Imamzadeh Hossein (shrine) in the city of Hamadan. The mother and daughter who were detained and illegally locked in a room by the superintendent and janitors of the shrine, claiming that the two women had not observed the mandatory hijab law.

The video of the two climbing over the gates of the shrine was published on April 7th. The video caption describes the situation as the mother and daughter who were walking through the shrine had been instructed by the janitors of this Imamzadeh to put on their headscarves; however following a verbal altercation with the women, one of the janitors proceeded to pull the daughter’s hair and the rest of the janitors had then surrounded the two women, pulling them by the hands into a room to be locked away.

According to the published report, the mother and daughter were able to find a way out of the room but had then been forced to climb the Imamzadeh gates that the janitors had locked and bolted. A large crowd outside the Imamzadeh’s gate cheer the women on and encouraged their act of bravery.
